Hollyoaks Title Clip

This video shows the opening titles to Hollyoaks from the 2010 series.I first played the video without sound so i could analyses the clip and see how it creates the opening scene of the programme and presents the genre and sub genre of the drama.Hollyoaks is the sub genre of teen.
The clip shows the main characters of the programme and presents them all quite similar but they are set in different environments.
The images are short film clips of the characters in an imaginary background which are formed through a green screen and effects of the camera . All the characters are dressed very smartly and appropriately which gives the connotations that the girls are quite glamorous and like to always make an effort and look nice ,in addition the males in these clips are also dressed very smartly in suits and give the impression they care a lot about their looks and represent themselves in a positive way.

The opening shot of the title sequence shows an extreme closeup of a pair of red, glossy rose lips clutching a juicy red cherry inbetween their teeth. The brightness and the colour reflects the idea that the characters are of an upper class and identify themselves of a high social status.

The females in this clips are seen as confident and classy through their facial expressions and body language, for example they blow kisses to the camera and smile with a "Hollywood smile".All the female characters are posh and have big hair which reflects the idea that they take care in their image and that they lead big elaborate lifestyles.

The image below shows a screenshot of one of the main characters in the opening titles.

The male in this shot is holding the british flag which immediately gives the audience the predictable knowledge that the programme is set in london, england and that the characters are of a higher class and social status. The facial expression of the boy implies that he is sneaky and he is snarling and that he is a bit of a lad.The whole shot gives connotations that its set in britain and that there is a lot of drama going on in their community.
